He was raised in Mumbai in the well-known Bachchan family. Abhishek made his acting debut in the 2000 war film ‘Refugee’, which was followed by twelve other films. He is the second actor after Dilip Kumar to win three consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in ‘Yuva’, ‘Sarkar’, and ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ (2006).
Abhishek’s career took a turn for the better after his critically acclaimed performance in the action film ‘Dhoom’ (2004). His most successful solo performance was in the film ‘Guru’ (2007), which featured a character largely based on Dhirubhai Ambani. Abhishek has received fresh praise from critics for his performances in digital projects such as ‘Breathe: Into the Shadows’ (2020), ‘Ludo’ (2020), and ‘Dasvi’ (2022).
Abhishek has won three Zee Cine Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role and a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for producing the comedy-drama ‘Paa’, in addition to his three Filmfare Awards. He has been married to actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan since 2007, and the couple has a child together.
