Employees had previously protested to demand the implementation of the OPS. Now, the state government has shared some positive news regarding the dearness allowance for employees. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that the pending installment of 6 percent dearness allowance, which was due during the former Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP government’s tenure, will be released to the employees.

Financial Burden: Pending Dearness Allowance to Cost Rs 356 Crore

The Punjab government has announced a significant development that will benefit its employees. The pending installment of 6 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) from July 2015 to December 31, 2015 will finally be released. This decision will have a financial burden of Rs 356 crore on the state’s treasury. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed that the government values its employees and considers safeguarding their interests as a top priority.

Big Gift for Government Employees

In a tweet, CM Bhagwant Mann shared this news as a special gift for government employees. He stated, “We have released one installment of the long-awaited dearness allowance for government employees. The Dearness Allowance has been increased by 6% since July and is applicable from July 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015. This decision will cost the state Rs 356 crore. We are committed to fulfilling our promises.”
