Balasore Accident: The train accident in Balasore, Odisha has resulted in a devastating loss of over 275 lives. It has been more than 50 hours since the accident occurred on Friday evening, leaving behind a trail of destruction and grief.
In response to this heartbreaking incident, the Indian Railways has taken several measures. A total of 123 trains have been canceled, while 56 trains have been diverted to alternate routes. Additionally, 10 trains have been short-terminated, and the schedules of 14 trains have been rescheduled. These changes in train operations affect trains scheduled to depart between June 3 and June 7.
Cancellation and Diversion of Important Trains After Tragic Accident in Balasore
Following the tragic train accident near Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore, where Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train collided, the Indian Railways has taken necessary steps to ensure passenger safety and manage the situation.
As a result of the accident, several important trains have been canceled. These include Sealdah-Puri Duronto, Howrah-Chennai Mail, Kanyakumari-Howrah Express, Shalimar Express, Tirupati Weekly Superfast Express, SMVT-Bengaluru Superfast Express, Santragachi AC Superfast, Purulia-Vilupuram, and others.
These trains routes were diverted
In addition to train cancellations, the routes of several trains have been diverted to ensure smooth operations and prevent any further mishaps. Some of the diverted trains include Tambaram-New Tinsukhia Express, New Delhi-Puri Express, Purushottam Express, and Digha to Visakhapatnam Superfast Express. Furthermore, a few trains have been short-terminated, such as Falaknuma Express, Baghajatin Express, Balasore-Bhubaneswar Express, and Jaleswar-Puri MEMU.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has assured that efforts are underway to restore normal train services by Wednesday. The tragic accident has claimed the lives of more than 275 individuals, with approximately 900 people sustaining injuries. The authorities are working diligently to provide support to the affected passengers and their families during this difficult time.
