Vande Metro is Coming Soon to this State
Ashwini Vaishnav has revealed that after the successful introduction of the Vande Bharat train, Odisha might soon receive another remarkable gift—the Vande Metro. The Railways is planning to launch the Vande Metro between Puri, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack, offering a convenient and efficient mode of transportation. It is expected to commence operations in early 2024, around January-February.
What is the Vande Metro?
The Vande Metro is essentially a smaller version of the Vande Bharat train, designed to connect cities with shorter distances. The government included this train in the 2023-24 budget announcement. This train will bridge the gap between cities within a 100 km radius. The Railways intends to operate the Vande Metro in large cities, covering distances of approximately 50 to 60 kilometers, where a significant population resides. It follows the successful model of the Vande Bharat train.

This new service not only facilitates seamless travel but also strengthens the connection between two major tourism cities, Howrah and Puri.
