Delhi-Meerut Rapid Train: The highly-anticipated Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut rapid rail system, RapidX, is set to become operational in the first week of June, as confirmed by official sources.
This regional semi-high-speed train system, constructed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi next month.
The completion of RapidX’s 17 km priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai is nearing its final stages. This priority section will connect five stations, namely Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot. The Sahibabad RRTS station has already been completed and is the first station of the system.
The station has been equipped with various amenities to ensure a comfortable journey for passengers. Additionally, the RapidX system will seamlessly integrate with other modes of public transportation in the National Capital Region, including the Delhi Metro, railway stations, and bus stands. Commuters using the Connectivity Transit System can look forward to enhanced travel experiences and convenient transfers.
Reports indicate that metro stations such as Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan, and Ghaziabad will be connected to four stations of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS. This connectivity will allow passengers to switch trains without having to step outside.
RapidX will offer a range of facilities, including dedicated train attendants, business class, and premium services. The train will consist of six to eight coach cars, with a separate coach reserved for women passengers, accommodating 72 seats. Other coaches will also have 10 additional seats for women.
NCRTC has emphasized that RapidX has been designed to cater to the diverse needs of all sections of society, especially women. Ensuring safety and convenience is of utmost importance, and the gender-inclusive design aims to empower women by providing better access to employment, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, along with seamless and faster connectivity.
