Shreyas Iyer had a stellar start to his professional cricket career with a home match and later he was offered to play for the Trent Bridge cricket team in the United Kingdom. During his time there, he scored an impressive 299 runs for the team. He then made his debut for the Mumbai team in the 2014-15 Ranji Trophy and broke a record by scoring 803 runs in the tournament at an average of 50.56, which included six half-centuries and two centuries. In the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy, he scored 1321 runs, which was the most by any player in the tournament, and included seven half-centuries and four centuries.
