Update Your Aadhaar Card: Step-by-Step Process to Update Aadhaar for Free

Update Your Aadhaar Card: If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar card yet, you have been given an additional 3 months by UIDAI to update it for free. After this period, there will be a charge for updating Aadhaar. UIDAI has urged all Aadhaar cardholders in the country to update their Aadhaar details on time. Those who haven’t been able to update their Aadhaar by June 14 are being given an opportunity to do so for free until September 14, 2023. Every citizen can update their details by visiting the MyAadhaar Portal.

To update demographic details such as address online, a fee of Rs 50 is applicable. Along with address updates, citizens can also update documents through the online portal. This can also be done at the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Moreover, you can also update your Aadhaar online from the comfort of your home by visiting the myAadhaar portal.

The myAadhaar portal, provided by UIDAI, allows you to update information such as address, name, etc., in your Aadhaar card. You will need your Aadhaar number and mobile number for this process. By verifying the OTP sent to your mobile number, you can change the address and other details.

Details that can be updated online

You can update various details in your Aadhaar card. Online, you can update your name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email, as well as biometric information such as fingerprints, iris details, and photograph. However, complete details cannot be changed online. To update complete information, you need to visit an Aadhaar Service Center.

Services that require a visit to an Aadhaar center

For certain updates, apart from demographic details, you need to visit the nearest offline Aadhaar center. Biometric details, iris details, and mobile number updates can be done at these centers. A fee of Rs 50 is charged for these services. If desired, you can also book an appointment online to avoid crowds and waiting.

Step-by-Step Process

  • Visit the Aadhaar service website: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  • Log in to your account and select the “Name/Gender/Date of Birth & Address Update” option.
  • Click on “Update Aadhaar Online” and choose the “Address” option for an address change.
  • Proceed to update your Aadhaar.
  • Upload scanned copies of the required documents.
  • Once completed, a Service Request Number (SRN) will be generated. Keep this number for tracking purposes.
  • You will receive a confirmation message on your mobile number once the process is finished.
