Special Economic Zones
As on 24/01/2008, the state of Uttar Pradesh has 37 SEZ projects of which 29 SEZs are located within the influence area of DMIC. It is important to note that the number of SEZ projects have almost doubled within a span of less than one year (20 projects as on 19/04/07). It is also observed that two SEZ projects located at Noida and Moradabad in the state have been operational prior to the issue of SEZ Act-2005. Among the notified/formally approved SEZs, IT/ITES sector dominates the share.
Current status of industrial development in Noida
NOIDA is in the process of awarding development right to M/s Reliance One World Ltd. for development of Multi product Special Economic Zone on 2500 acre of land along the Greater Noida Expressway. This project has received 'In-Principle Approval' from the MoCI. This SEZ is expected to attract prestigiousindustries in this area which will give boost to the economy of the state.
Total Area earmarked for industrial development in the Master Plan 2021 is 2993 (20%) Hectares and the total developed area under industrial use is1309 hectares. Presently the NOIDA Authority is developing 18 sectors that have been exclusively planned and developed for industrial use and 7 more sectors are being planned to cater to future needs. Out of these sectors:
. 324 hectares in Sector 63,64,65 (Phase III)
. 245 hectares in Sector 80 and 81 (Phase II)
. 235 hectares in new sectors 83,84,87 and 88
Current status of industrial development in Greater Noida Infotech Park
GNIDA is planning the development of an Infotech Park in the city to cater to the specific infrastructure requirements of the IT industries. The Infotech Park is expected to be a have fully integrated, self-contained and designed to offer international-quality, ready-to use office space and social infrastructure for IT industries and IT enabled services.
Biotech Park A project for setting up a world - class Biotech Park at Greater Noida has been initiated. This park is proposed to be spread over 100 acres and would cost around INR 31 Crore. The park will primarily promote projects in healthcare, Industrial biotechnology, Agricultural biotechnology both in the areas of manufacturing as well as research.
Ghaziabad Apparel Park This Project is being developed on 145 acres of land at the cost of INR 49 Crore. In this park, it is proposed to set up facilities like Training Centre, Fashion Design Centre, Tool Room Centre , Quality Control Lab, CETP, Ware house, Business convention cum Exhibition centre, and Women's Hostel/ Crèches etc. At present, a total 500 no. of plots have been developed out of which 412 plots have been allotted. 10 units are under production and 54 units are under construction.
