
Industrial Investments in Rajasthan Centre for Urban Research
Review of proposed industrial investments in Rajasthan reveals that about 121 projects are proposed for development with a total investment of INR 13,388 Crore. Majority of envisaged industrial investments are located in Jaipur (47 projects, INR 3746 Crore), followed by Kota (10 Projects, INR 3481 Crore) and Chittaurgarh (8 Projects, INR 2680 Crore). Major investment sectors in Jaipur are retail, textile, automobile, services whereas Cement is the major investment sector in Chittaurgarh and Kota.
Special Economic Zones
Review of development of SEZ projects in the state of Rajasthan indicates that 18 out of 21 SEZ projects, as on 24/01/08, are located within the influence region of DMIC. Major sectors for SEZs in the state include IT/ITES, textile, handicrafts, electronics, multi product and gems & jewelry.
Mahindra Gesco Special Economic Zone
This integrated Business City , spread over 1215 Ha, is envisaged to be provided with dedicated zones for each sector viz. Information Technology (IT) & IT Enabled Services (262.14 Ha), Manufacturing, Warehousing & Logistics, Leisure and Residential zones.
Location Located off the NH 8 (Jaipur - Ajmer Highway), Mahindra World City is conveniently located and in close proximity to Jaipur City (25km) with easy access to the international airport. It is a City away from the bustle.
Investments It is estimated that the project would involve an investment of INR 1000-1100 Crore and construction work is currently under progress. This project is expected to be commissioned in three to five year time frame. A special purpose vehicle, Mahindra World City Jaipur Ltd, formed by Mahindra Group Company and the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) as the shareholders, will execute the project.

This project is expected to generate investment in excess of US$ 2 billion or INR 10,000 Crore and generates 100,000 jobs.
Industrial Parks requiring Mega Investments
Government of Rajasthan is planning to develop four mega textile parks in the state at Jaipur, Kishangarh, Gundoj (Pali) and Hateda (near Jaipur).
These projects are expected to involve investments of the order of INR 180-400 Crore and have the potential to provide direct and indirect employment to 5000- 12000 people. These industrial parks are well connected by National Highways as NH-79, NH-14 and NH-11. These industrial parks have been proposed to be implemented in public private partnership with state government's grant varying between 35-40%. These industrial parks are expected to have export component of 25% and the annual turnover is estimated to be varying between INR 200 Crore to 1000 Crore. At present the textile cluster proposed at Jaipur is being implemented and detailed project reports have been approved for other projects.
Sikandara Growth Pole Government of Rajasthan is preparing detailed project report for developing Growth Pole at Sikandara catering to multi-sectoral clusters as stone, carpet, leather, dairy and tourism. This growth pole will cover an area of 1250sqkm, inscribed in a circle of 20km radius with its focal point at Sikandra. This growth pole will constitute about 350 villages.
Road and Rail Connectivity Sikandara is located at the intersection of National Highway No.11 and State Highway No.25. NH- 11 - National Highway connecting Jaipur and Agra, further linking with the Golden Quadrilateral Project at Jaipur State Highway No. 25 - State Highway connecting to Alwar (Part of Govt of Rajasthan's Mega Highways Project) Railway Station (Broad Gauge line) at Bandikui (15 km from Sikandra)
Potential Presence of multi-sectoral units in the unorganized sector as stone, carpet, tourism, dairy, leather and footloose industries.
