Road Development Plan for RajasthanCentre for Urban Research
The state of Rajasthan has been implementing various development projects worth INR 4549 Crore, which will improve over 30,000km length of roads in the state.
Rajasthan Government\'s commitment towards infrastructural development in the state took shape with setting up of a unique special purpose vehicle, Road Infrastructure Development Company of Rajasthan (RIDCOR). The company has been incorporated with 50:50 joint venture between the State Government and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS;) to implement Transformational Road Project on public-private partnership. This project involves improvement and maintenance of 1053 km of road across 13 districts of the state, at an investment of INR 12 billon. RIDCOR would be responsible for project development and implementation, operation and maintenance of project roads while IL&FS; would make available necessary finance. The role of RIDCOR will also include developing value-added services like 24-hour ambulance services, round-the-clock highway patrolling, emergency, helpline facilities, tow-away services, way-side amenities, shops, kiosks and restaurants, besides construction work. Corridors identified by RIDCOR for implementation under Mega Highway Project through Public Private Partnership include:

Corridors Length (Km.)
Phalodi to Ramji Ki Gol 292
Hanumangarh to Kishangarh 407
Alwar to Sikandra 81
Lalsot to Kota and Baran to Jhalawar 273
Total 1053

Development of these identified corridors will also include development and support environmental, community, social, educational and tourism initiatives along the road projects. Improvement works of these four corridors have been divided into seven packages for implementation. Of this, RIDCOR has awarded contracts for the six packages for integrated improvement-cum-performancebased maintenance works. The bidding process for the remaining package i.e. improvement works for Lalsot to Kota is in process.
